JOE JONAS AND DEMI LOVATO HAVE BROKEN UP:

JOE JONAS and DEMI LOVATO have broken up. --There was a report on one of those silly celebrity blogs that Joe actually made his DAD call Demi on the phone and do the dumping for him. But it turns out that wasn't the case. --Joe told "People" magazine, quote, "Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one. I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now. --"It was my choice to break up but I love her as a friend. She's been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her." --And Demi hit Twitter to add, quote, "There are so many crazy rumors flying around today. I'd like to clear a few things up. First, Joe and I did split but it wasn't over the phone. Things didn't work out but we'll remain friends. --"Secondly, I am NOT dating anybody already. Nothing is more important to me than the relationship I have with my fans. Just thought you guys should know this." --That last statement was probably a response to the rumor that Demi has been, quote, "in constant contact with WILMER VALDERRAMA" since the breakup.


KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN ADMITS SHE GOT BREAST IMPLANTS . . . BUT SHE SAYS IT WAS NEVER A SECRET:

The KARDASHIANS appeared on last night's "Nightline" . . . and KOURTNEY admitted to having her boobs pumped up. She said, quote, "I have had breast implants, but it's so funny 'cause it's not a secret, I could care less." --The irony is that she didn't even need to. She said, quote, "My boobs have like tripled since breastfeeding." --KIM, on the other hand, said her chest is ALL-NATURAL. And so is her nose. She said, quote, "What's funny is about my nose, it's my biggest insecurity. I always want to get my nose done. --"I went to a doctor, I had them take the pictures, he showed me what it would look like and it just didn't . . . it . . . I wouldn't look the same." --She added, quote, "I'm totally not against plastic surgery. I've tried Botox before. That's the only thing that I've done."

LINDSAY LOHAN HAS BEEN ORDERED TO WEAR A SCRAM BRACELET:

The good news for LINDSAY LOHAN is that she actually made it to court yesterday. The bad news is that Judge Marsha Revel ordered her to get fitted for one of those SCRAM ankle bracelets to make sure she doesn't drink. --It was put on right after the hearing. (--"SCRAM" stands for "Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring." The device actually measures alcohol through the wearer's skin, via perspiration. If Lindsay drinks, this thing will detect the booze and alert the court.) (--It also sends an alarm if it's tampered with . . . like if Lindsay were to try to take it off.) (--This will be Lindsay's SECOND SCRAM bracelet. She wore one in 2007, after one of her DUIs.) --Lindsay was also ordered to undergo random drug testing at least once a week. And she was informed that a missed test equals a FAILED test. --Lindsay was 10 minutes late for the hearing, but her attorney told the judge it was because of the media outside . . . and she bought it. --Lindsay's attorney protested the bracelet, saying Lindsay has photo shoots and a movie filming soon in Texas. She asked for random alcohol testing instead. The judge denied that request outright. --The judge also said Lindsay would have to undergo her drug testing in Los Angeles . . . meaning she has to either postpone or bow out of the gig in Texas. (--It's not clear what movie Lindsay's attorney was talking about. The only film on Lindsay's radar right now is the LINDA LOVELACE movie, "Inferno". But the director says it's filming in CALIFORNIA, not Texas.) --Lindsay also has to keep attending her alcohol education classes. --Lindsay was NOT hit with a probation violation yet. The judge will deal with that matter at a hearing on July 6th. Lindsay will have to wear her bracelet until then. --As for whether or not Lindsay provided PROOF that she intended to fly out of France last Wednesday and make it to her hearing the following day . . . well, it sounds like she DIDN'T. --The prosecutor told RadarOnline that Lindsay's attorney provided a travel itinerary . . . but no proof that a plane ticket was purchased for that day. And she plans to bring that up at Lindsay's July 6th hearing. --Lindsay herself spoke only once during the hearing. LINDSAY LOHAN DOESN'T THINK SHE NEEDS JAIL OR REHAB:

LINDSAY LOHAN was pretty humble in court yesterday . . . but the fact of the matter is, she still doesn't think she needs any help. --In an interview over the weekend with Hollywood.TV, Lindsay said, quote, "I don't see what reason I would go to prison for. I've been more than compliant with everything having to do with the court system." --She added, quote, "I don't see why I would even have to [go to rehab] considering I've been in compliance with everything that occurs when you're in the court system for two DUIs." --Lindsay also addressed that picture that was taken of her in Cannes . . . in which she appeared to be sitting next to a table with cocaine on it. --She said she didn't even know the people in the picture with her. They were just people in the same hotel as her, and they saw her walking in the hall and asked her to come into their room and take a picture with them. --She said she never saw the cocaine-like substance on the table. BRET MICHAELS WILL HAVE HEART SURGERY IN THE FALL:

In addition to his emergency appendectomy, his brain hemorrhage and his "warning stroke", BRET MICHAELS also found out last week that he has a hole in his heart. Well, that condition will be dealt with in the fall. --Bret is going to have heart surgery, but the doctors have to wait until he's done taking all the drugs he needs to deal with the other three conditions. --Bret tells "Access Hollywood", quote, "What they'll do is they'll go in and they'll do the heart operation in the fall. They have to let everything clear out and then they'll go in and do the operation in my heart and then I'm gonna be great. --"I don't have any other options except to think that it's gonna be great, it's gonna be a smooth operation and I'm gonna feel awesome." --Bret also said that when he suffered his hemorrhage, he didn't have that stereotypical "life-flashing-before-your-eyes" moment. --He says, quote, "It was probably one of the scariest moments in my life . . . that was . . . up there with probably the scariest moment in my life. This could be it. Your life doesn't flash in front of your eyes. --"You don't all of a sudden have a rewind of your childhood, at least I didn't. What happened to me is I got very sad that I may never see my kids again, and my family. I was like, 'This can't be happening.'"


JESSE JAMES SAYS HE WANTED TO GET CAUGHT:

The big JESSE JAMES interview airs TODAY on ABC's "Good Morning America" and "Nightline". Here are a few more excerpts . . . --Jesse claims he WANTED to get caught . . . quote, "When I was doing it, you know, one, I knew it was horrible, it made me feel horrible. --"And two, I knew I would get caught eventually, and I think I wanted to get caught . . . It was me trying to self-sabotage my life." --Asked why he'd want to hurt SANDRA BULLOCK, he says, quote, "It's hard for me to talk about, a little bit, because I still really love her and care about her." --He adds, quote, "I've spent my whole life with the kids and with her trying to . . . protect her from everything, but the most hurt she's ever been caused is by the person that wanted to protect her." --He also admitted, quote, "She's gonna be hurt for a long time."

SIMON MONJACK NEEDED A BYPASS OPERATION, ACCORDING TO HIS REP:

There's still no official word on what killed BRITTANY MURPHY'S husband, SIMON MONJACK. But his rep said yesterday that he actually needed a heart bypass operation. -He said, quote, "I was told he needed a bypass, and I said to him, 'Simon, you have so much going on, let's keep you healthy.' I said, 'You want to be healthy. Don't you?' He said yes, but he said, 'The bypass can wait.' --"I don't know how much of an emergency it was. The doctors would have made him get it immediately if he needed it, but [Brittany's mother] confirmed with me he did need a bypass. They didn't make it public because he had so much going on." --He added that he did not believe Simon died of a drug overdose. --Back in January, Simon's mother said he suffered a, quote, "slight heart attack" a week before Brittany's death. Simon has also battled mouth cancer. --It was Brittany's mother Sharon who discovered Simon's body at the L.A. home they continued to live in together after Brittany's death. A friend says she's, quote, "not well at all." --A spokesman for the coroner's office says, quote, "We're not sure if it is natural causes or a possible accident. Maybe because of the prescription medication found there." --There's no word yet what medications were found.


DENNIS QUAID IS SUING OVER THE NEAR-DEATH OF HIS TWINS:

DENNIS QUAID and his wife have finally filed a lawsuit over the accident that nearly killed their newborn twins more than two years ago. --As you may recall, the babies were just days old when they came down with staph infections, and were treated with a blood-thinner called Heparin. --Each child was supposed to be given 10 units of the drug . . . but were accidentally given 10,000 units. That's 1,000 TIMES the dosage they were supposed to receive . . . each. --In a lot of ways, the kids are lucky to be alive. And according to the lawsuit, the consequences, quote, "may be permanent in nature and are likely to cause serious complications in the future." --The Quaids are suing Baxter Healthcare, the makers of Heparin, claiming that the labels on the different dosages look too similar. --They're seeking punitive damages and medical expenses . . . and they want Baxter to establish a fund for future medical expenses. --The Quaids had also sued Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where the near-fatal accident occurred. But they settled with the hospital last year for $750,000.


IS HEIDI MONTAG SUICIDAL???

Here's something I never expected: A woman who had 10 plastic surgery procedures in a single day apparently has some self-esteem issues. --So-called "sources" close to HEIDI MONTAG say she's hooked on painkillers and borderline suicidal, saying stuff like, quote, "The way people treat me, I may as well be dead." --One friend says, quote, "Heidi hates herself, which is why she got into this mess. No matter how many times she goes under the knife, it doesn't take away from the fact she's the same insecure person underneath." --It probably isn't helping that her husband, SPENCER PRATT, is in charge of her pill intake. --The source continues, quote, "She's doped up to her eyes on painkillers and has terrible mood swings. Heidi's completely addicted, which has everyone worried sick. She slurs her words and seems unfocused. --"We think it's the painkillers. We want her to go to rehab before it's too late."


BRITNEY SPEARS HAS MORE TWITTER FOLLOWERS THAN ASHTON KUTCHER:

ASHTON KUTCHER loves to make a big deal about his presence on Twitter and how many followers he has. --It was just a year ago that he raced CNN to see who could get 1 million lonely morons hooked to their feeds first. Ashton won, by the way. Which is why this might be kind of a slap in the face for him . . . --As of yesterday, BRITNEY SPEARS has more followers than Ashton. Yesterday afternoon, she had 4,955,768 . . . while Ashton had 4,944,221. --Asked about it on Twitter, Ashton responded, quote, "I don't care." --Britney was excited by the news. THEATERS THAT WERE CHARGING $20 FOR "SHREK" HAVE APPARENTLY BACKED DOWN:

It turns out there wasn't just one theater in the New York City area that was charging $20 for IMAX showings of the new "Shrek". There were several, and they were all owned by AMC. --Well, AMC backtracked HARD yesterday . . . claiming it was all just a mix-up. --An AMC spokesman said, quote, "Unfortunately, a limited number of theatres posted incorrect pricing for 'Shrek', which we immediately corrected. Any guest who purchased a ticket at the incorrect price can visit Guest Services for a refund." --Richard Greenfield, a media analyst who tracks ticket prices, isn't buying the excuse. He says, quote, "We suspect AMC and other theater owners are concerned about consumer backlash over 3-D pricing."


"LOST" FINALE FALL-OUT

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje turned down THE OPPORTUNITY to APPEAR ON THE "LOST" FINALE:

All the major "Lost" stars returned for Sunday night's SERIES finale, with the exception of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje . . . (--pronounced ADD-ay WAHL-ay ACK-id NOY-ay AG-ba-jay) . . . who played Mr. Eko. --"Insiders" tell E! Online that Adewale was offered a nice check to appear in one scene . . . but he turned it down. Supposedly, he wanted five-times the amount he was being offered. So, it didn't happen. --It's unclear where Adewale would've appeared in the episode. (--Mr. Eko was introduced in Season Two, and was supposed to be on the show for around four seasons. But HE wanted to quit, so his character was killed off early in Season Three.)


THE "LOST" FINALE WAS A MILD SUCCESS IN THE RATINGS:

Nielsen's initial numbers estimate that the two-and-a-half hour "Lost" series finale averaged 13.5 million viewers. That would make it the highest rated episode in the past two years, but it isn't anything compared to the early years. --The first three seasons each averaged between 15 and 16 million viewers . . . and most-watched episode, the Season Two premiere, was seen by 23 million people.


"THE SIMPSONS" OPENING INCLUDED A "LOST" REFERENCE:

The 21st season finale of "The Simpsons" . . . which aired on Sunday night . . . featured a reference to "Lost" in the opening sequence. (--"The Simpsons" aired opposite the retrospective "Lost: The Final Journey", which preceded the two-and-a-half-hour "Lost" series finale.) --In the shot where Bart is doing his chalkboard-writing punishment . . . he wrote, quote, "END OF 'LOST': IT WAS ALL THE DOG'S DREAM. THE PAULA ABDUL EMPLOYMENT WATCH: PAULA HAS BEEN HIRED:

It's official: Former nonsensical "American Idol" judge PAULA ABDUL has finally landed a regular gig. --CBS has hired Paula to be the "lead judge" on their new show, "Got to Dance", which is based on a British show with the same name. (--She will also be serving as an executive producer and "mentor".) --CBS initially announced the show back in March, saying it was going to be some kind of flash mob dancing show. --There still aren't many details, but it sounds a little like "So You Think You Can Dance" . . . except that it'll be open to all ages, and seems like it's less about learning choreography. --Paula confirmed the news, saying, quote, "I've spent the better part of my life teaching, mentoring, nurturing . . . working with so many talented people . . . and I consider myself truly blessed to be able to continue to do something that I hold so dear to my heart. --"Compelling stories, exciting competition and amazing dance performances are guaranteed." (--It's unclear when it'll premiere. It wasn't on the fall schedule that CBS announced last week . . . so it could be in line for a midseason debut, or maybe it'll be pushed back to next summer. KATE GOSSELIN MADE $500,000 ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS":

JON GOSSELIN'S lawyer infamously and publicly called KATE GOSSELIN an "absentee parent" for leaving their eight kids to do "Dancing with the Stars", but maybe it was worth it after all . . . because she may have made BANK. --A so-called "insider" . . . (--who's definitely on Team Kate) . . . tells PopEater.com, quote, "Kate earned over $100,000 per week on 'Dancing'. She's a single mom who has to pay the bills and feed those eight little mouths all by herself. --"Say what you want about her, but Kate will do anything to make sure her children have a bright future. Even making a fool out of herself on national TV." --Kate lasted five weeks on "Dancing with the Stars" . . . so if this "insider" is to be believed, that means she pulled down $500,000. (--If this IS true, it would be a lot different than what we've heard about the "Dancing with the Stars" paychecks in the past.) (--Last spring, TMZ reported that SHAWN JOHNSON earned the maximum possible salary on "Dancing" . . . $365,000 . . . for winning Season Eight.) (--So either "Dancing" salaries went up drastically in just one year . . . or producers paid significantly more to land Kate than they did to get Shawn . . . OR this "insider" is full of crap.)

AEROSMITH WILL GET $1 MILLION FOR PLAYING AT A STATE FAIR?

Syracuse.com reports that AEROSMITH will headline the New York State Fair in August . . . and they'll get $1 million for it. Plus, if the show sells out . . . and you have to think that it will . . . they'll get another $300,000. --This apparently isn't all that ridiculous for the New York State Fair. Two years ago, organizers gave RASCAL FLATTS $800,000 for headlining that summer.


SLIPKNOT BASSIST PAUL GRAY IS DEAD:

SLIPKNOT bassist PAUL GRAY has died at the age of 38. --There's no word on a cause of death. His body was discovered at an Iowa hotel yesterday morning. (--A hotel employee found him just before 11:00 A.M.) --There was no evidence of foul play. An autopsy was scheduled for today. --A toxicology test will be a part of the autopsy. Gray has struggled with drug use in the past. In 2003, he was arrested after causing a car accident. He was charged with marijuana and cocaine possession, and driving under the influence of drugs. -However, he may very well have been clean at the time of his death.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA HAS SCRAPPED HER SUMMER TOUR:

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has scrapped her summer tour. --The dates . . . which were just announced two weeks ago . . . stretched from July 15th in Uncasville, Connecticut, through August 19th in Irvine, California. --As usual, there will be a lot of speculation that the tour was canceled because of disappointing ticket sales, but naturally, Christina's people say that's not the case. --Her spokesperson issued a statement saying, quote, "Christina Aguilera's summer tour has been moved to 2011 due to prior commitments that the singer had made to her film, 'Burlesque', and to the promotion of her new album, 'Bionic'. (--But don't you promote an album by . . . touring???) --"[She] felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn't possible."
(--"Bionic" hits stores on June 8th . . . and "Burlesque" hits theaters in November.) --The makeup dates should be announced later this year.

JUST ONE IN FIVE WOMEN ARE CONFIDENT ABOUT THEIR BODIES:

Next month's issue of "Women's Health" magazine has a bunch of stats about women and their appearance. Or rather, their vanity. Here's what they found: --According to a recent survey, 74% of women admit they constantly check out their reflection.

--55% say they'd never consider having plastic surgery. But of those women, 46% would think about it if there were no pain and no recovery time.
--45% of women say they count calories, and 35% go to the gym every day.
--17% of women say they won't leave the house without perfectly manicured nails, and 22% admit they still get regular beauty treatments even when they can't afford them.
--And 44% admit they wax "down there."
--But, in spite of all this, just ONE in FIVE women say they feel confident about their body.
--Overall, ONE in FOUR women says she'd turn down a date with a guy she liked if she had a zit, was feeling overweight, or hadn't trimmed her hair downstairs. (Women's Health)


WOMEN FIND SLIGHTLY CHUBBY GUYS JUST AS ATTRACTIVE AS DUDES WITH SIX-PACK ABS:

In case you haven't heard, it's great to be a guy. Here's even more proof . . . --According to a new study from the University of Queensland in Australia, women are just as attracted to guys carrying a few extra pounds, as they are to dudes with six-pack abs --A woman named Phillippa Diedrichs led the study. She interviewed more than 600 men and women, and asked them to rate the attractiveness of several different male body types in print ads. --Phillippa says some of the participants may have, quote, "attributed the models' muscularity to vanity or homosexuality, characteristics which they may have found unpleasant or discomforting." --But when guys are a little too skinny, or a little too chubby, they're thought to be less concerned with their appearance. Apparently, that's an attractive trait in men. --In other words, packing on a few extra pounds shouldn't prevent you from pulling chicks. And who knows . . . it might even help. Memorial Day is almost here. If you're planning to hit the beach this weekend, you're going to want to pay attention . . . --That's because according to something called the Environmental Working Group, your sunscreen might actually be doing more harm than good. --According to a new study, just 39 of the 500 most popular sunscreens on the market are actually considered safe and effective. It's because most sunscreens include Vitamin A or its derivatives, retinol and retinyl palmitate. --Vitamin A is an antioxidant that slows skin aging, which is why it's included in sunscreen. But it's also been shown to speed up the spread of SKIN CANCER. --According to the report, quote, "tumors and lesions developed up to 21% faster in lab animals coated in a Vitamin A-laced cream than animals treated with a vitamin-free cream." --And rumor has it the Food and Drug Administration has known about Vitamin A's potential danger for nearly ten years without alerting the public. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, women still only make 77 cents for every dollar men make. And only three percent of Fortune 1,000 CEOs are women. So the magazine "Excelle" tried to explain why.

--Here are their five reasons for why men still make more money . . .

#1.) MEN ARE SEEN AS "ASSERTIVE," AND WOMEN ARE SEEN AS "AGGRESSIVE." When women speak up for themselves, they risk being seen as "difficult." So they have to walk a fine line. But most men don't have to worry about it.

#2.) MEN ARE SEEN AS "PASSIONATE," AND WOMEN ARE SEEN AS "EMOTIONAL." If a man raises his voice, people think he's taking charge. But if a woman does it, people think she can't control herself.

#3.) MEN HAVE LOUDER VOICES. In general, men talk louder than women do. And if you're the quiet voice in the room, your ideas aren't heard as often. So speak up, ladies.

#4.) WOMEN ARE JUDGED ON WHAT THEY WEAR. Women have to worry about whether their heels are too high or their blouse is too low-cut. And if it is, they might not be promoted because they're labeled as inappropriate or too sexy.
