CHRIS BROWN WAS BACK ON COMMUNITY SERVICE YESTERDAY:

It's probably okay to trust CHRIS BROWN with hedge clippers, as long as there are no lippy broads around. The Virginia Department of Corrections must have felt the same way, because they gave him a pair yesterday.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S MOTHER AND CHILDREN GET ALMOST $87,000 A MONTH FROM HIS ESTATE:

MICHAEL JACKSON'S mother KATHERINE and his three children will receive close to $87,000 a month as beneficiaries of his estate. --Katherine gets $26,804 . . . while the kids split $60,000.

According to court documents unsealed yesterday, Katherine's "allowance" will pay for an assistant, a housekeeper and a driver . . . plus utilities, clothing, grooming and other expenses. --As for the kids, $315,000 a year would be spent on employees to care for them . . . and another $160,000 would pay for entertainment and related expenses. The rest will be set aside for their, quote, "basic needs." (--The kids' annual take, at 60-grand a month, is $720,000.)

One last, quick note on Michael . . . although it's one we don't necessarily believe. The not-always-reliable British tabloids say that JANET JACKSON and MADONNA are going to team up for a duet as a tribute to Michael.

Supposedly, they came up with the idea while having dinner after Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. (--We'll let you know if there's any truth to this.)


PAULA ABDUL IMPERSONATED ELLEN DEGENERES WHILE HOSTING "VH1 DIVAS" LAST NIGHT:

PAULA ABDUL hosted "VH1 Divas" last night . . . and not surprisingly, there were some pretty awkward moments. Here are a few highlights: --She opened the show by saying, quote, "Good evening everyone! I'm Paula Abdul . . . and THIS IS NOT 'American Idol'." And instead of pronouncing her last name "Ab-DULE" . . . she pronounced it as "AB-dull".

Then in one of the more AWESOME moments, Paula impersonated ELLEN DEGENERES . . . complete with a blonde wig, a blazer, and tennis shoes . . . and mocked the dance routines Ellen does at the beginning of her talk show. When the music died down, she said, quote, "Why you all staring at me? Can't a girl try out a new job? All kidding aside, nothing but love, Ellen. And I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig

PAULA ABDUL SAYS "AMERICAN IDOL" WILL BE "DIFFERENT" WITHOUT HER:
Just so you know, PAULA ABDUL is TOTALLY cool with "American Idol" hiring ELLEN DEGENERES to replace her . . . because her new career is TAKING OFF.

In a radio interview Paula simply said that "Idol" will be a, quote, "different show" with Ellen. --She didn't elaborate, but she did say that she's working on a ton of MYSTERIOUS projects that she, quote, "can't wait" to tell us about. She added, quote, "I'm going to be producing my own shows . . . [and] not just in America.

I'm going to be creating a show in Vegas. Pretty soon I'll be announcing some very exciting stuff with a network and production company. So I'm actually getting to do all the things that represent who I am. People have no idea."

IDOL TRACK LEAKED ON LINE

The first single off KRIS ALLEN'S debut album will be "Live Like We're Dying". It's a cover of a song by an Irish band called THE SCRIPT. A 20-second sample of his version has surfaced online.
