SETTING GOALS

***FOUR TIPS FOR SETTING GOALS***

One of the most-rewarding things you can do for yourself is to set goals and accomplish them. But if you don't do it right, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. Here are four tips for setting goals the right way . . .

#1) SET A GOAL, NOT A DREAM. You might DREAM of being the president of your company, but if you set an attainable goal to get a promotion instead, you're much more likely to accomplish it in the near future.

#2) MAKE A LIST OF REALISTIC STEPS. Create a list of steps you can take to accomplish your goal. You'll end up with a list of MINI-GOALS that you can accomplish quickly. And completing them will keep you motivated.

#3) IDENTIFY POTENTIAL OBSTACLES. Accomplishing your goal won't be easy, so preparation is important. If your goal is to save money to buy a new car, open a separate bank account, so you won't be tempted to spend the money on other things.

#4) TRACK YOUR PROGRESS. Use a journal to keep track of the steps you've made towards your goal. You'll see how far you have to go, and more importantly, how far you've come. And when you get discouraged, it'll inspire you to keep going. (AskMen.com)
