EXPENSIVE GAS, A GOOD THING?

HERE ARE SOME REASONS WHY $4 A GALLON MAY NOT BE SO BAD:

I just stumbled across this article which I wanted to share. Basically, people at “Time" magazine decided to make a case for $4 gas . . . and why it's a GOOD thing. Here are the top 5 reasons they came up with . . .

#5.) THERE ARE FEWER TRAFFIC DEATHS: Since you can't afford to drive anymore, chances are you . . . and a lot of other people . . . won't be on the road, driving like a maniac and getting into accidents. According to "Time" . . . if gas stays at $4 a gallon for the rest of the year, there will be about 1,000 fewer traffic deaths in the U.S. every month. That means that in the course of a year, the number of traffic fatalities will drop by nearly ONE-THIRD. (--So you have the facts, there are about 40,000 traffic deaths every year in the U.S.)

#4.) YOUR CAR INSURANCE WILL BE CHEAPER: If you're driving less, you might qualify for lower insurance rates. For example, if you don't drive to work anymore, you could change your driver classification to "pleasure driver". That could lower your insurance bill by 10% to 15%.

#3.) THERE'S LESS TRAFFIC: Fewer people can afford gas, so fewer people are on the road. That means there are less knuckleheads getting in your way, clogging up the highway and rubbernecking at every little thing they see along the side of the road. That's a thing of beauty.

#2.) THERE ARE MORE COPS WALKING BEATS: Normally, police like to cruise around in their cars. But to save money, police forces are assigning more officers to bike and walking beats . . . which means they're actually interacting with the public. That's good for everyone.

#1.) THERE'S LESS OBESITY: If you can't drive, you're pretty much left with three alternatives: Take public transportation, ride your bike, or walk . . . and TWO of those THREE options are going to help you lose weight.

WAKE UP

YOU DON'T NEED TO DRINK COFFEE TO WAKE UP . . . JUST SMELL IT:

If you're hitting up Starbucks for a pick-me-up at least once a day, you're blowing about a grand a year on coffee. But here's a way to save some money and get the buzz for free . . . walk into Starbucks, take a whiff, and leave. That's right . . . just smelling coffee can actually wake you up the same way drinking it does, according to scientists from South Korea.

Normally you down a cup of joe because the caffeine makes you feel less like a zombie. But scientists found that antioxidant compounds in the aroma of coffee also gives you pep. They did an experiment with two groups of sleep-deprived rats . . . and the group that was allowed to smell coffee became less stressed and more awake than the group that didn't smell coffee. If the same holds true for humans, you might be able to experience the effects of a cup of coffee without ever drinking one. - Nazzy

JYY DAY AT WHALES TALE

Hey, it’s Nazzy. Every summer, without fail, I always get the same question; “WHEN IS JYY DAY AT WHALES TALE?” – I am very proud to announce, this year it’s Saturday, August 2nd!

If you have never been to Whales Tale, it is by far one of the best water parks in New England. The whole family can play in the only wave pool in the White Mountains. Ride the big waves or relax in the gentle ones at the shallow end. At Whales Tale, there is
no need to worry about sand or salt. Streak down the speed slides, twist through the flume slides, or splash down the 360 foot tube ride with clean, clear filtered water. I might even muster up some courage to ride the “Eye of the Storm”!!

Make sure to tune into the JYY Wake Up Crew each day this week at 8:40 for your chance at a family 4 pack of passes!!

Get set to get wet at “JYY Day @ Whales Tale Water Park”!! Don’t forget, yours truly, will be your party host! There will be games, contests & dancing all poolside at Whales Tale on August 2nd!

- I can’t wait!! --- Nazzy
